This reblog made me remember my favorite interview from Mozart Season, in this case, Benton. They were in fact some kind of “somethingcore” band (as they jokingly called themselves) and still they are seriously some of the most positive guys whom I’d still love to meet.
Benton: “I have it tattooed on my wrist and we all have it tattooed on our hearts about the idea of PMA or positive mental attitude. We’re a band that believes in believing different things. All of us in the band have different musical backgrounds, different belief systems when it comes to religion, politics, government, greenpeace or whatever it is. We’d just like to say to anyone who actually listens to us that we believe that being yourself and doing whatever you want to do and putting your whole heart into it is cool to us. Whether you party every weekend or you’re straight-edge or whether you’re Democrat or Republican, as long as you believe what you believe and really fight for it then that’s what we’re about. We don’t try to preach and we want everybody to have a good time. We just want to definitely thank anybody who has ever seen us or anybody who is [reading] this interview and anyone who has ever shown love for us because obviously without people showing us love we would be nothing and we wouldn’t be where we are. We owe it all to everyone.”
I think what he said is what “positive hardcore” really is about. Not that it makes Mr. Urie any less of a funny or cool guy!
